The designer's favourites
“I have a deep appreciation for timeless kitchen design. I strive to create kitchens that transcend trends and cannot be tied to a particular decade. The same philosophy guides my choice of materials. By allowing natural materials to speak for themselves, and by carefully considering proportions, shadow lines and detailing, a harmonious composition emerges that celebrates enduring craftsmanship and lasting quality. Honest materials mature beautifully, developing character over time – a living expression of craftsmanship designed to endure."
Which kitchen is your personal favourite?
When I designed my own kitchen ten years ago, the choice was an easy one. I chose a Classic bespoke kitchen in smoked oak – the very essence of timeless design. I wanted it to feel like a beautifully crafted piece of furniture within our open-plan kitchen and living space, blending effortlessly with our furniture and art. It is a kitchen we continue to enjoy every single day.
Which worktop do you consider the best choice for a kitchen?
I have a clear preference for natural materials such as stainless steel, timber and natural stone, particularly marble and granite. I enjoy working with the different finishes that stone can offer – polished, honed or textured. The natural pores and surface variations found in materials such as travertine create depth while adding a tactile quality and a quiet sense of luxury.
What could you not live without in your own kitchen?
I wouldn't be without our Quooker Cube, which provides chilled filtered water, still or sparkling, directly from the tap. We drink far more water than we used to, and the children use it for everything from a glass of sparkling water to making homemade lemonade. The filtration also gives the water a noticeably fresher taste.
Elegant appliances from Gaggenau and BORA are details that elevate the overall aesthetic and perfectly complement uno form's timeless design language. In a carefully considered interior, lighting plays an essential role. It should therefore be integrated into the design from the very beginning, becoming an integral part of both the atmosphere and the character of the space.
Three pieces of advice when investing in a bespoke kitchen
