Iconic Danish design brands enter into strategic partnership

Carl Hansen & Søn and uno form will enter into a new strategic partnership when the two Danish design companies join forces to promote Danish design internationally.

The furniture company Carl Hansen & Son has teamed up with kitchen manufacturer uno form to promote Danish design internationally. In the future, you will therefore be able to see and buy Carl Hansen & Son’s furniture in selected uno form kitchen studios, and you will be able to experience uno form’s craftsman kitchens in selected Carl Hansen & Son flagship stores globally.

The first visible evidence of the new partnership is in Carl Hansen & Son’s flagship store in Gelsted, which also houses the company’s production. It is to this location that uno form has delivered kitchens from its iconic Classic Collection, known for its distinctive slatted drawers, and from the new Copenhagen Collection, which is characterised by a minimalist look with visible mortise and tenon joints. The next step will be installing kitchens in Carl Hansen & Son’s flagship stores in Munich and New York.

Carl Hansen & Son and uno form both have a long history of proud traditions and are firmly rooted in Danish furniture making. Carl Hansen & Son’s history dates back to 1908, when CEO Knud Erik Hansen’s grandfather founded a small cabinetmaking company in Odense, which has now grown into 50,000 m² of production in Funen and over 600 employees globally.

uno form was established in 1968, when Arne Munch simplified the perception of good kitchen design and, from his basement in Kongens Lyngby, created the Classic series, which unites the proud Danish traditions of craftsmanship and design in a timeless design classic. Today, uno form is one of Denmark’s biggest kitchen brands, with kitchen studios all over the country as well as in Norway, Sweden and Belgium.

Peter Bisgaard, Sales Director at uno form, says:

“Not only do we both have exquisite design, uncompromising quality and accomplished craftsmanship at the top of the agenda, but we also both strive to create experiences that meet the needs of the individual and that stand out in terms of both execution and materials, so that over the decades they simply become more beautiful and gain more personality. When we present our products side by side, this elevates both our brands and supports the narrative of the Danish tradition of design and craftsmanship.”

Knud Erik Hansen is also excited about the partnership and says:

“Carl Hansen & Son has a lot in common with uno form – from an eye for small details such as mortise and tenon joints to a functionalist approach to design, with everything stripped right back. uno form kitchens serve as furniture in themselves and therefore perfectly complement our collection. That is why it makes a lot of sense for us to cooperate so that together we can increase the reach of Danish design.”
