Ewa Söndergaard

Ewa Söndergaard is an architect and the owner of uno form Malmö. In short, Ewa is a perfectionist who never considers a project complete until every detail has been thoughtfully resolved.

As a trained architect, Ewa sees design as far more than an aesthetic discipline. With an architect's eye for the bigger picture, she believes that a kitchen or bathroom should never be viewed in isolation, but instead integrated as a natural architectural extension of the home. For Ewa, design is not about following passing trends. It is about creating bespoke solutions where functionality and refined aesthetics exist in perfect harmony. Her ambition remains the same in every project: to create the ideal balance between minimalist Scandinavian architecture and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, where design, materials and quality of life come together effortlessly.

Ewa graduated as an architect from Lund University of Technology in 2001 and has spent more than two decades building uno form's design studio on Östergatan in Malmö into a destination for bespoke residential interiors.

One of Ewa's greatest strengths lies in her ability to translate architectural vision into a well-managed project. Working closely with a trusted network of highly skilled craftspeople and carefully selected suppliers who share her uncompromising commitment to quality, she has developed a seamless process that provides confidence throughout even the most complex projects - from the first sketches at the drawing board and the careful selection of materials to the final installation of a bespoke kitchen, bathroom or wardrobe.

"I have always been drawn to timeless design, characterised by clean lines and a strong emphasis on functional beauty. When it comes to materials, I personally favour the darker timbers, particularly walnut and smoked oak. They are natural materials that bring depth, character and a reassuring sense of permanence to an interior.

When it came to designing my own kitchen, the choice was an easy one. I chose a Classic bespoke kitchen in walnut. To me, it represents timeless design - a kitchen that cannot be tied to a particular era and could just as easily have been designed in the 1960s as today. In our bathrooms, I chose the Classic collection in smoked oak."

Which worktop is best for a kitchen?

That depends entirely on your priorities. If visual appeal is the deciding factor, natural stone is, in my opinion, the most beautiful choice. At home, cooking is an important part of everyday life, so I prefer a worktop that combines a natural appearance with exceptional durability. If I were choosing again today, I would opt for a ceramic worktop from Bricmate. It has the appearance of limestone while offering a surface designed to withstand daily use.

What couldn't you live without in your own kitchen?

My Gaggenau appliances are among the things I value most in my kitchen. We use the steam oven every single day - for everything from reheating food to cooking meat and fish - while the baking oven with its integrated baking stone is indispensable whenever we're baking bread or making pizza.

Three pieces of advice when choosing a new kitchen
